Hand built from stoneware in Shapiro’s St. Louis studio, the Loop Lamp is a floor lamp comprised of 6 sections, 28 lights and stands over 7 feet tall. Each of the three center sections feature 8 bulbs embedded in arched tubes that surround the entire piece. The shine of the glaze repeatedly reflects each of the light sources inviting the viewer to become lost in its patterns. Inspired by playground equipment from Shapiro’s childhood, The Loop Lamp combines whimsical lines with imposing scale. Currently on view at the Walker Art Center.
